Days 81-82 18-18 Aug 2015 Balmy Beach, Ontario

Day 81 18 August 2015  Balmy Beach  10 miles
In the morning, Shawna took us on a quick tour of Owen Sound and then to Ingalls Falls Park. The next stop was Bogner Bog, part of a local land trust, for a 5-km walk up onto a section of the Bruce Trail on the escarpment and then back through a wetland.
Wildflowers included Joe Pye weed

Ed photographing ferns.

The last part of the track passed through a wetland
Leaves of aquatic plants on the water surface.
Wood duck boxes
That afternoon we went to the Tom Thompson Art Gallary in Owen Sound. They had some of Tom Thompson's paintings on display.

Day 82 - 19 August 2015  - Balmy Beach and Southampton  0 miles (we took Shawna's car)
Shawna's daughter, Jessica, was visiting with her daughter Sarah.

Late morning we left for Southampton with a packed lunch. We walked along the lake front of Lake Huron.
Cardinal flower (Lobelia cardinalis) planted along the lake front.
In Canada the flag seems to fly in more places than we remember from the past.
... even at the public conveniences.
Still, Canada has a long way to go to match the flag-waving USA.
At Southampton we stopped at the Offshore Bakery
Shawna bought a loaf of bread to take home
and we bought butter tarts to eat immediately.
Back on the beach we looked across to Chantry Island, just offshore from Southampton.
Midge and Shawna on a rock 100 feet from shore.
Shawna has a beautiful garden
with sleep out separate from the main house.
A great meal on our last night.
